The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities: The mission
of the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities is "to collaborate
with Georgia citizens, public and private advocacy organizations, and
policy makers to positively influence public policies that enhance the quality
of life for people with developmental disabilities and their families. The
Council provides collaboration through information and advocacy activities,
program implementation and funding, and public policy analysis and
research. |

Benefits Navigator Project: A FREE Service Provided By: Shepherd
Center in a cooperative agreement with the Social Security Administration. |
State Department of Human Resources: DHR manages programs that
control the spread of disease, enable older people to live at home longer,
prevent children from developing lifelong disabilities, protect children from
abuse and neglect, provide families with a variety of financial and non-
financial supports, train single parents to find and hold jobs, and help
people with mental or physical disabilities live and work in their
communities. |
Georgia Learning Resources Center: The Georgia Learning Resources
System (GLRS) is a network of 17 centers throughout Georgia that provide
training and resources to educators and parents of students with disabilities |
Georgia Advocacy Office: Its mission is to work with and for
oppressed and vulnerable individuals in Georgia who are labeled
as disabled or mentally ill to secure their protection and advocacy. |
Atlanta Alliance on Developmental Disabilities: Their mission is to build
communities of support, acceptance, and opportunity for children, adults,
and families living with developmental disabilities. |
Parent to Parent of Georgia: Provides support and information to
parents of children with disabilities. |
Babies Can't Wait: Babies Can't Wait (BCW) is Georgia's statewide
interagency service delivery system for infants and toddlers with
developmental delays or disabilities and their families. |
Georgia Community Support and Solutions: GCSS provides supports
and services in 11 metro Atlanta counties for children and adults with
disabilities; mental health, emotional or substance abuse issues. |
Dekalb Community Service Board: The DeKalb Community Service
Board (CSB) is a public, not-for-profit organization that helps children,
adolescents, adults and seniors who suffer from mental health,
developmental disabilities and addiction challenges to live more full and
productive lives. |
Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta: A source of information
and support to families, as well as working to promote public awareness
and encouraging a better understanding of Down syndrome and individuals
with Down syndrome. |
