Transition Program

Mission of Service: A unique stepping stone between living at home with family and
living in the community, the Transition Program offers a structured, highly supervised
training and assessment program to better evaluate each persons support needs.

Description of Program: For those people who are moving out of their families
home for the first time, the Transition program offers a unique opportunity to
experience life away from home in a highly structured, campus-like environment.

The Transition program is housed at the Orkin Center on the campus of the Marcus
Jewish Community Center. Participants live on-site from Sunday evening through
Friday afternoon. While in the program, participants are learning basic lifeskills such
as laundry, meal preparation, housekeeping, money management and developing a
social/recreation calendar. Up to five individuals live on-site with one to three program
staff. Duration of the program ranges from two months to twelve.
