JF&CS Diversifies Its Board

JF&CS Diversifies Its Board

As the adage goes, change isn’t easy.  After looking at our 120 year history, a discussion regarding whether or not to open our board of directors to the broader community took place.

The process that brought this decision to fruition was thoughtful, deliberate and provided an opportunity for all opinions to be heard.  We began this two year journey at the suggestion of several critical community based funders who believed the self reflection would be beneficial to the organization.  We were certain that regardless of the results, we would be a stronger organization for having undertaken the discussion.

The dialogue continued through the guidance of an Ad Hoc Task Force.  We sought input and insights from our stakeholders within the community, from other Jewish Family agencies across North America, and from our funders.  At the end of the day, the consensus revealed the commitment for our leadership to accurately reflect the clients we serve, the professionals who provide services and the volunteers who donate their time so generously.

The following video presents observations and perspectives from some of the leaders who played key roles in guiding the discussions and formalizing this important decision.
