Rolling Up Our Sleeves: The JF&CS Financial Leadership
As an organization, JF&CS is consistently recognized for the expertise and forward thinking of the financial leadership of the organization. Funders including United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, The Community Foundation of Metropolitan Atlanta, and The Marcus Foundation continue to demonstrate and express their confidence in the business minds that guide decisions and manage resources.
Key to the foundation of this guidance is the financial leadership team that includes the professional officer, Debi Rice McNeil, CFO, and volunteers Treasurer, Michael Merlin and Assistant Treasurer Michael Levy.
Michael Merlin explains his confidence in JF&CS stating, “Many organizations champion a good cause and there are countless opportunities to do good. The challenge in being successful is to do good in a financial structure that works. This is uncommon. I am proud that when we talk results, it is always grounded by prudent and responsible financial decisions.” He continued, “I do not recreate myself with volunteer opportunities, so the financial management role fits with my skill sets. And equally important to me is the fit with the professional staff. I have total confidence in Debi Rice McNeil. She is the paradigm of the communal CFO.”
“Donors know that their investment in the organization is well spent,” adds Michael Levy. “While the mission is clear, we will always do everything we can to meet the needs without compromising well thought out financial impact. And integral to our unique management approach, JF&CS involves all levels of management in the budget process. Fiscal accountability permeates the entire organization.”
Through the professional staff lens, Debi concludes, “I am deeply grateful for the depth of knowledge provided by the lay leaders who support my work, and for the commitment they demonstrate to the work that we do. The impact of this level of expertise with our organization is immeasurable. There is no doubt in my mind that JF&CS has the most sterling volunteer leadership in our community!”
